Rafting for Reading

Rafting in the Smokies and The United Way of Sevier County present "Rafting for Reading"

The United Way of Sevier County in cooperation with the Dollywood Foundation and Head Start programs in Sevier County are building a volunteer-based reading initiative that provides an enthusiastic adult reader for 20 minutes per day to the 4 year old children in each of the ten Head Start programs in Sevier County. The goal is to increase the vocabulary and love of reading among the 4 year olds before they reach kindergarten. Rafting in the Smokies is proud to partner with United Way to benefit this new program. On Saturday August 6, you can raft for a special discounted price of $10 off ($29 + tax). Rafting in the Smokies will donate $5 from every rafting reservation to the Early Reading Initiative.

Rafting in the Smokies is happy to offer our community and yearly visitors a quality whitewater rafting experience. For 33 years Rafting in the Smokies has focused on providing a fun, "Family Adventure" to all who visit us. This year we want to focus on the Family portion in a new way! This United Way benefit day is one small way we choose to support our wonderful community in return for the loyal support we have been given for so many years. While you are there on August 6, don't forget to check our new Family Adventure Island where we have ziplines, a ropes course, a nature trail, swings and picnic tables. Make plans to join us for a great day at the river.
